REPUBLICA
DUMKIBAS (Nawalparasi), Dec 15: Chaudhary Group (CG), Nepal´s leading business conglomerate, has begun production of CG Cement targeting markets in central and western parts of the country.

The group ventured into cement production keeping in view the growing demand for cement and huge prospect of infrastructure development and other civil construction works in the country.

Spread over 10 hectares in Dumkibas of Nawalparasi, CG Cement has used latest state-of art technology from China to limit pollution to a negligible level. It has installed capacity to roll out 1,500 tons of cement per day.

Barun Chaudhary, director of CG, said the new plant can produce 250 tons of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and 1,350 tons of Plain Pozzolana Cement (PPC) per day by using Nepali clinker.

Though CG Cement has already entered the market, the group plans to formally launch CG OPC Cement next week, while CG PPC Cement will enter the market after a month.
“As we don´t compromise on quality of our product, we are confident that we will become leader in cement within short span of time,” Chaudhary said. “We have identified places between Janakpur in the east to Darchula in the west as our potential market.”

Due to power shortage, the company has been running diesel plant to operate the factory.

Established with an investment of Rs 1.5 billion, the company has installed plant which minimizes pollution in the locality. “The plant made by a reputed Chinese company have the capacity to absorb pollutants and make the factory periphery pollution free,” said Chaudhary.
The factory employs more than 200 people.

Though CG Cement is procuring clinker from Nepali producer at present, it plans to produce clinker on its own in the near future. “We will begin extracting limestone from our mine in Palpa within a couple of years,” Chaudhary said, adding that the group would install a grinding plant in Palpa to produce 2,250 tons of clinker per day.

The mine in Palpa is estimated to have 300 million tons of limestone.
